About Volunteering

The Hecasa Volunteering Programme offers international volunteers a unique opportunity to live, learn, and make a meaningful impact in Tanzanian communities. Based in Arusha, the heart of Northern Tanzania, our programme connects volunteers with hands-on community projects across education, healthcare, women’s empowerment, environmental conservation, and cultural exchange.

By joining Hecasa, volunteers not only contribute to real, sustainable community initiatives but also gain an immersive cultural experience, learning about Tanzanian traditions, local languages, and ways of life. Our mission is to foster cross-cultural understanding while providing tangible benefits to the communities we serve, empowering locals, and protecting the environment.

To ensure a rewarding and safe experience, volunteers are expected to:

  • Have basic English communication skills
  • Demonstrate a respectful, flexible, and motivated attitude
  • Be willing to learn, adapt, and engage with local communities
  • No professional background is required — just a passionate heart and willingness to contribute
